I'm not sure how Apply to Image replaces the convenience of seeing side by side the effects of a filter or setting versus the original.
If you make your thumbnails larger than the size of the embedded thumbnail, they will look blur. The embedded EXIF thumbnails can be read very quickly but the size (width x height) is limited, e.g. XnView MP 0.90 is the only piece of software that claims it no Longer supports Mavericks. What I didn't realize until now is that in the Edit/Preview image panes, I could put the cursor on the image and scroll to zoom in and out. By default, XnView MP uses the EXIF thumbnails embedded in your image files. Then I resized thumbnails and rebuilt, resulting in the Preview images being large enough but the browser was showing same size, just 2 wide x 2 down. ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format-Profil : HighL5. Expanding the dialog expanded the image panes but the image itself stayed the same size with black space filling in around. Have spent a lot of time to get this working, since yesterday. Originally I had the browser window showing small icons about 12 wide x 8 down but when I opened an image and selected Preview in an Edit dialog, the images were about the same size. The 'blurry' thumbnails are the main issue. I'm not sure how though or what exactly controls the size of images in the browser window.

Never mind, there are so many options and I somehow got it looking right. How To Uninstall XnView after it has been installed using the Setup Program : Select the Windows menu Start > Program > XnView > XnView Uninstall.
